CLASSIC PIE & PUDDINGS

Thursday 29th September – Come along and learn how to make a proper steak/chicken pie or chicken/leek cobbler and also a family favourite pudding – Grandma Marsden’s apple & blackberry pie with melt in the mouth pastry – so easy to prepare! Also make another classic pudding such as sticky toffee pudding, steamed treacle/chocolate sponge with custard, Eve’s pudding, rhubarb crumble cake, brioche bread & butter pudding, French style apple tart, or meringue nests filled with fresh strawberries & cream. They will be sure to impress family and friends!  The course costs £80 per person and will take place in my country kitchen, Gyn Race, Royd Lane, Millhouse Green, S36 9NY. A TASTE OF SICILY

Thursday 18th August  – A new course created for all you who love great Italian food! Come and learn how to make your own fresh pasta ravioli or tortellini with filling, potato gnocchi with a tomato basil sauce, and either mascarpone berry cheesecake or cannoli.

The class will take place in my country kitchen, Gyn Race, Royd Lane, Millhouse Green, S36 9NY. Places are limited to 10 people per course price £75.00 pp. All courses include lunch (made by you), plus teas and coffees throughout the day (10am – 2pm). PERFECT PIES

Thursday 22nd September  – come along and learn how to make two fantastic handmade ‘Penistone Pork Pies’ using hot water pastry  and a traditional savoury pasty with a melt in the mouth short crust pastry to take away and enjoy with the family. This course includes a ‘Penistone’ Ploughman’s lunch with Yorkshire cheese followed by homemade cakes plus teas and coffees throughout the day (10am – 2pm). PERFECT PICNIC (NEW)

Thursday 28th July –  Full of fun tips to create a fantastic picnic spread to feed a crowd.  This is an example of recipes used on the day –  will learn how to make the classic scotch egg, sausage rolls, empandanas, cheese straws and a wonderful no bake cheesecake! All great for an ‘al fresco’ sunny day outdoor party! The class will take place in my country kitchen, Gyn Race, Royd Lane, Millhouse Green, S36 9NY. IT’S ALL IN THE PASTRY

Friday 7th July –  a good cook needs to know how to make perfect pastry and it needn’t be a mystery, or something to be frightened of! With a few simple techniques and some family secrets, you can learn how to make truly special sweet, savory and choux pastry that works every time. It promises to be a busy morning with lots of hand on experience. And alongside recipes for a range pies and puddings, you’ll make a polenta pastry savory tart for lunch followed by yummy chocolate eclairs and a French style apple tart to take away and enjoy at home with your family!

FLAVOURS OF ITALY

Thursday  6th October  – this course is a must for all Italian food lovers! An example of some of the dishes you will learn how to make on the day – fresh pasta,  rosemary foccacia, sweet leek and mascarpone or spicy cherry tomato sauce, biscotti biscuits, tipsy tiramisu, mini Italian cheesecake & panettone bread & butter pudding. All guaranteed to be a hit with the family! This workshop is an ideal introduction to making bread & pasta. We make pasta both by hand and using a pasta machine, with tips and guidance to take out the mystery from fresh pasta.  The class will take place in my country kitchen, Gyn Race, Royd Lane, Millhouse Green, S36 9NY. SUMMER BREADS

Friday 20th May – learn how to bake your own delicious artisan summer breads without the use of a bread machine! This course is perfect for beginners and also for those wanting to improve their bread making skills.  You will make a calzone for lunch and an array of freshly baked breads to taste and take home to share with family such as focaccia, brioche, soda & cottage rolls.  Also included: an introduction to sourdough bread. Sourdough is what all breads used to be before baker’s yeast was invented! The taste is truly delicious and you learn how to make your own starter!

EASTER & TEATIME TREATS

Friday 8th April – bake a variety of Easter bakes and teatime treats, such as Easter meringue nests with mini eggs, hot cross buns, simnel cake, treacle tart, variety of sweet/savory scones, mini chorizo/pork sausage rolls, profiteroles and polenta tart. PORK PIE & CHRISTMAS CHUTNEY

Friday 2nd December – Penistone Pies & Puddings producer of ‘champion’ pies from her base at Millhouse Green on the edge of the Peak District for an introductory course on how to produce one of the all time British classics – the pork pie. Not only will she show you how to make the unique hot water crust pastry but she will also give you tips on how to make your pork pie more ‘festive’. As well as catering for traditional pork pie lovers Jacqui will reveal how to customise your pies to introduce different cuts, types of meat and additional ingredients to give them your own distinctive flavour. You will also produce your own gourmet Christmas chutney to serve as the perfect accompaniment to this classic pie over the festive season. On completion of the course you will take away your own pork pies created on the day one using her ‘Little Champion’ pie making machine and one made by hand to share with friends and family and a jar of Christmas chutney. CHRISTMAS CANAPES (new)

Friday 17th December – all great parties start with great nibbles, whether it’s an informal party with friends and family or a more formal gathering! Learn tips and techniques with foolproof recipes that enable you to relax and enjoy the party. Here is an example of dishes that will be made – chorizo puffs, twisted parsley breadsticks, empanaditas, tapenade, lemon hummus, tiny devonshire cream tea scones with raspberry conserve,  mini minces pies parmesan & pine nut biscotti with green olives, sundried tomato pesto palmiers etc.
